DeMille's The Ten Commandments was made in an era of epic movie-making when saying that really meant something because if they said a film had "A cast of thousands" they literally meant it had a thousand people appearing on screen, yet DeMille's epic retelling of the Exodus is not only about scope and visual splendour, with some truly amazing special effects to create the wrath of God, it also has a cast that includes some of the biggest stars in Hollywood and when it comes to playing larger than life characters nobody does it better than Charlton Heston and with him facing off against Yul Brynner as the Pharoh Rameses you are talking pure cinematic gold.
